Steve Rutland is our senior advisor at Pathlight Advisers and has been a licensed insurance agent since 1979. Over the course of nearly half a century in the financial services industry, he has worked with clients from a wide variety of backgrounds with a wide variety of needs. He also believes putting those needs first is the best way to maintain his relationships and help his clients graduate into the most exciting time of their lives.

That philosophy has also made his clients eager to refer him to their friends and family, and he has built his entire career on relationships with clients he has already helped. “It’s not a secret that putting people first is the best way to solve their problems,” Steve says.

“I take a look at their current circumstances, the level of protection their current policies offer and their goals. Then I see if there might be something more effective that can potentially give them the ability to achieve their goals in retirement.”

Steve also relies on his extensive experience in the industry to educate his clients. He has seen insurance products change and evolve over the course of more than four decades, and his mission is to use the latest options to help clients address their concerns and mitigate the risks of retirement. “Insurance is no longer just about protection. It can help you create a stream of income for retirement or pay for long-term care. It can even be a helpful piece of an estate plan. My goal is to combine those solutions with the proper Medicare plan to help my clients advance into retirement with confidence,” Steve says.

When he finds free time, Steve enjoys traveling all around the world, spending time with his grandchildren and attending live sporting events. With Southern values and hospitality at his core, family always comes first, and he’s grateful for each opportunity to show his loved ones a new destination or to watch them experience something amazing for the first time.
